On Friday April 24th, Seniors won the Staff VS Seniors Basketball Game with a final score of Seniors 22, Staff 10.
The game started at 12:15 in the gym. After the players had a brief warm up, both of the teams came running onto the court, one player on the seniors team, Tate Phillips, doing a flip in the air. The game began and the staff quickly got ahead of the seniors with two two-pointers. The staff were able to hold onto their lead for a quite a while, but after a few failed lay up attempts from the seniors, they eventually got a three pointer which began to even out the scores. Sadie Rojas, a 12th grader commented on the game, “I think it was really cool. I think that we should do more activities like that.” The students made several more successful shots, pushing their team’s score far ahead of the staff team’s score.
After the first half of the game, both team’s players made room on the court for a student to perform the game’s halftime show, in which she danced along to three songs, all while viewers on the bleachers cheered and clapped along to the music. The staff racked up six more points throughout the rest of the game but were still beat out by the seniors who made several more shots as well as a successful free-throw. The seniors won and the game concluded at 1:05, lasting 50 minutes before students went to lunch.
