On April 17th the Padres were sold to Jose E. Feliciano, the co owner of Chelsea FC, and his wife Kwanza Jones after outbidding the 3 main bidders Tom Gores, Joe Lacob, and Dan Friedkin for 3.9 billion before it is final that Jose and Kwanza is the new owner 75% of MLB owners have to agree with there being a scheduled owners meeting in June, after the last owner Peter Seidler passed in November 2023 his family struggled to see who should be the chairman with John Seidler serving as the chairman 2 years later then choosing to put the Padres up for sell. Senior Anthony Trujillo said, “The team has been in a financial cloud since Peter Seidler passed away, they will definitely approve it because when one team sells for a record breaking 3.9 billion the value of their teams go up, they are in a great spot talent wise but there stuck in a holding pattern we have some great players but without a permanent owner there’s a fear of a fire sale.” Fans are excited and happy for the sale and think it is a good direction for the future for the Padres long term and not have much of a fear of a fire sale of the Padres great players.
