In this fall season of CIF, our football team’s season had a record of 6 wins and 5 losses, getting them into the D2 playoffs. Sadly, they couldn’t continue the season as the Vikings were eliminated by the Scripps Ranch Falcons during the first round of the playoffs. Our girl’s cross country team won in the D4 championship with senior Chiara Dailey winning her 4th consecutive season title. As for our boys water polo team, they are now going into the finals against Cathedral Catholic high school. When asked if the team performs better under the pressure of a big tournament, Dexter Black, a junior on the water polo team said, “There is a lot more energy in the crowd and it gets our team going.” The tournament has also changed the way the team behaves and acts. Levon Kevorkian, a junior in our team, said, “At first we weren’t very confident in our ability to perform but now that we beat bishops it showed that we can perform at very high levels.” The team captain, Tor Martin, a big takeaway from the tournament so far and stated, “It’s my senior year. So it’s going to be my last one, it really made me be a leader as best as I can, and it’s hard but I am learning a lot on how to be a leader.” This CIF season has been incredible, let’s hope the next season will be even better and bring our school even more pride than this one.
