I wouldn’t see any reason to stop doing it as long as I could physically do it.”

Theatre teacher Mr. Allen has taught for 30 years. He has not only been working as a teacher but also directing the school plays, musicals, and dinner theaters. Mr. Allen loves his job, his students, and has encouraged many to work in his productions, saying he will miss most “Those special moments where you see students really get excited about theater”. When asked why Mr. Allen decided to retire, he said, “It’s my time. They gave me a good financial incentive to retire.”

English teacher Ms. Medrano has been teaching for 40 years. Who has taught every grade including preschool. When asked why she decided to retire she said she had “aged out” of teaching and feels “like I care more about education than the majority of young people.” Medrano explained her favorite part of her career was “coaching and teaching PE” and that she has loved the 14 years she spent teaching at La Jolla High.
