On Monday, September 29th, longtime rival musicians, Cardi B and Nicki Minaj, clashed on the platform X over a three-day period. The argument began when Minaj posted on X, “4.99,” seemingly referencing the price of Cardi B’s recently released album, Am I the Drama? The two went back and forth, Minaj calling Cardi B “Barney Dangerous,” and Cardi firing back, calling Minaj “Cocaine Barbie.” The argument stretched over three days, snowballing to the point where Minaj and Cardi both insulted each other’s children, Papa Bear and Kulture. Once Minaj started including Cardi’s daughter in her insults, Cardi B asked for Nicki Minaj’s address, posting on X, “DROP THE ADDY RIGHT NOW!!!!” When asked what she thought about their rivalry, Senior Reese Rodger said, “I think Cardi B is holding some ground by asking for the addy.” Nicki Minaj and Cardi B have had an ongoing feud since 2017.. During the 2018 New York Fashion Week, Cardi B and Nicki Minaj got into a fight at an after-party, in which Cardi allegedly threw a shoe at Minaj. Still, many question whether the two rappers actually have a beef, or if their exchanges over the years are part of an elaborate PR stunt. When asked if she thought their rivalry is real, Ainara Soto, a senior, said, “I think in aspect it is, but it’s blown out by media portrayal just because of how popular they are. I think if they were both nobodies, nobody would care.” Only time will tell what develops next between the two artists.
