Winter formal this year was hosted at The Birch Aquarium on February 22nd and was held from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. The students entered the premises by forming a line at the entrance of the aquarium, passing through a security check, and finally getting their names checked off by the teachers checking everyone in. The party started off nicely, with countless students entering the party and the DJ playing music. The students were allowed to enter and explore the aquarium, which added to the fun.
Compared to Homecoming, the Winter Formal did exceed expectations. Winter Formal offered a variety of drinks and snacks for the students to choose from, including sodas, lollipops, candy, and brownies. Additionally, throughout the dance, students were allowed to roam around the aquarium and explore the many wonders Birch Aquarium offers. Freshman Gael Chaponniere said, “The best part was definitely the extra space, the extra rooms that provided release from the extreme sound. It was a pretty good decision to hold the Winter Formal at the Aquarium.” Students found it very fun to have options: go outside, look around in the aquarium, or stay on the dancefloor. The vibes of the dance were cheerful; the crowd kept dancing and having fun while also having fun with their friends. Although winter formal was certainly of high quality, many shared a similar opinion to sophomore Emily Arboleda, who stated, “I think that the winter formal would’ve been better if they had more kinds of sodas and more space to dance.” The winter formal was excellent, even if it needed a little bit of adjustments, but at the end, the vikings let the party on.
