Ms. Revilla has just begun teaching at La Jolla High School this year as a Spanish teacher. She has plenty of experience as a teacher and is excited to join the community as a part of La Jolla High. We asked Ms. Revilla…
Q: How long have you been teaching Spanish?
A: “This is my 17th year”
Q: What made you want to become a teacher?
A: “It started with my own experience in high school, I was in Spanish 1-2 and on the surf team. We took a trip to Peru and it was really exciting to make the connections beyond the classroom and actually be able to use Spanish.”
Q: What is your favorite part about teaching?
A: “I’m always learning and growing and there’s always room for improvement and ways to do new things.”
Q: Did you teach at any schools previously? If so, how long?
A: “I taught at Hoover High School and City Highs for 16 years.”
Q: How are you liking your job at La Jolla High so far?
A: “I really like La Jolla High School, it feels like a smaller community than what I was used to; which I like.”
Q: Have you had to endure any challenges/roadblocks in your career?
A: “Yeah, all the time”
Q: If you weren’t a science teacher, what would you like to do?
A: “I’d probably do something with translation, like assisting families with English to Spanish and just helping people.
