Ms. Jakubowski has just begun teaching biology at La Jolla High School this year. She has half a year of experience as a teacher and is thrilled to be meeting the students and teachers of our community. She has many integral years of teaching ahead of her, and her journey has just begun. We asked Ms. Jakubowski…
Q: How long have you been teaching science?
AJ: “It’s actually been like a month right now.”
Q: What made you want to become a teacher?
AJ: “I like interacting with students and I also really like the subject of biology.”
Q: What is your favorite part about teaching?
AJ: “The fun part is just interacting with students and being able to see what they actually learn and seeing them actually understand the material is really exciting.”
Q: Did you teach at any schools previously?
AJ: “Before working at La Jolla as a science biology teacher I was working as a long term sub at Crawford High School and before that I was just working as a substitute teacher.”
Q: How are you liking your job at La Jolla High so far?
AJ: “So far I am enjoying it; especially meeting the students and the teachers.”
Q: Have you had to endure any challenges/roadblocks in your career?
AJ: “Yeah, just the whole process of just going to interviews and possibly getting hired full time.”
Q: If you weren’t a science teacher, what would you like to do?
AJ: “I would either be working in a lab or work in the health field.”
