Pedestrian Dies on the I-15
According to KUSI News and Times of San Diego, on Sunday, September 18th, at around 4 in the morning, a pedestrian was hit by a male suspected of drunk driving. The pedestrian was walking into the I-15 lanes when the 23-year-old male driver of this black Lexus sedan suddenly hit him. When interviewing Roxanne Metcalf, a sophomore at La Jolla High School, said that hearing about a crash like this makes her feel unsafe driving. Additionally, she believes that drunk drivers should get their license revoked as well as attend AA meetings. To add on, Roxy said, “Personally, I believe that drunk driving is an epidemic and stricter policies must be in place.” Moreover, senior Alessia Demoreno commented on how it is also very dangerous to get in a car with a drunk driver. Further stating that if they were ever in this type of a situation, they would be sure to not get in that car and have the intoxicated driver exit the vehicle. She also brought up the point of view of not being the driver or the pedestrian but somebody in another car and said that if she spectated this crash or any crash, she would “immediately dial 911 and check to see if the pedestrian was okay.” According to car accident lawyer Daniel Kim, “the driver was intoxicated and the man hit was 39 years old.” Furthermore, “Authorities have not released the victim’s name but did say he was a resident of San Marcos.” This crash remains under investigation.
