First Home Track and Field Meet of the Season

The first home track and field meet of the season will be held on Thursday, March 14th from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on the LJHS track. La Jolla High athletes will compete against the athletes from Mission Bay High in running, jumping, vaulting and throwing events.

According to freshman Sonia Prince, “The season is going well and I have good friends. It is a fun, exciting new experience.” Her events are pole vaulting, sprints and long jump. Senior Nicole Azimioara one of the team captains who does hurdles and triple jump said, “The young team is doing well for this point in the season, and I am confident that we will beat Mission Bay.”

Mr. Byrne, the head coach and the coach of the pole vault event said, “The season is going wonderfully, and that I am happy about the meet. Yes, I think we will win.” The meet will have the field events, such as high jump and long jump happening simultaneously with the running events, such as the 400 meter dash or the 800 meter dash.

At 3:00 p.m., before the meet begins, there will be the Second Annual Staff 4×100 Relay, with teachers and staff competing in the relay. The meet is open to parents and anyone else wanting to support the athletes of La Jolla High School in their first home track meet of the season.
