Trump encourages pregnant women not to take tylenol as his administration notes its link to causing autism. Trump’s comment, made on September 22, 2025, received reactions from medical professionals, lawmakers, and autism advocacy groups. Also, the Food and Drug Administration stated that scientific data proving Tylenol causes autism remains inconclusive. Sophomore Domino Ashby, stated “I don’t think this claim makes much sense and definitely needs more research.” As for research, during Trump’s campaign for president, he promised to uphold the highest scientific standards for healthcare. In May 2025, “Restoring Gold Standard Science” was the title of an executive order the Trump administration issued. What made many listeners uncomfortable was when President Trump mispronounced the word “acetaminophen”. Since Trump has taken office, health advocates question his policies. In the past two decades, autism diagnoses have increased, and many scientists have worked on finding the cause. According to Kate Yandell, a health editor at FactCheck.org, a non-profit that monitors facts, “The administration’s suggestions about the role of acetaminophen go beyond what the research has shown.” Many feel that this claim, made by President Trump, has increased an uneasy division between science and politics.
