In honor of October being breast cancer awareness month, the water polo boys dressed up in pink and headed to the volleyball courts to play a challenging game against the girls’ volleyball team. In support of breast cancer awareness, La Jolla High puts on various games and events to spread knowledge and raise money for the foundation. The boys tried their best, blocking serves and making some incredible saves. However, the girls’ volleyball pulled through and won 25-10. Mathew Shomo, a freshman on the varsity water polo team, says, “It was a really fun game, even though we lost. I think it’s going towards a really good cause, and it was overall just a fun game to play, even though it was hard.” A huge audience of people who came to support them and the Dig for the Cure cause cheered them on. The volleyball team was thrilled with their win and enjoyed playing as well. “I didn’t actually know if we would win for a second, but we did in the end. I had such a good time, hopefully they do this next year as well,” says sophomore Estela Levine, on varsity volleyball. La Jolla High hosted another great game, and our hearts go out to those with loved ones suffering and to all those suffering from breast cancer. #DIGFORACURE
