Ty Tortorice is a freshman quarterback at La Jolla High and is on the varsity team. He has been playing football since fourth grade, cannot wait to see what he accomplishes in the rest of his high school career! Keep reading for an exclusive interview below.
Q: How long have you been playing football for?
TY: “I’ve been playing football for 5 years.”
Q: What made you start playing football?
TY: “I’ve always loved to watch it and my dad also used to play when he was a kid.”
Q: What was your initial reaction to being pulled up to varsity?
TY: “I was pretty scared because they are all a lot older than me but I was super excited that the coaches believed in me to go up to varsity.”
Q: What was going through your mind in the game?
TY: “I was definitely nervous because it was weird playing with kids who were a lot bigger and older than me.”
Q: What have you learned most from playing football?
TY: “I’ve definitely gotten better since playing with varsity. I just need to trust the players around me.”
Q: What are you most looking forward to this football season?
TY: “I’m most looking forward to bonding with the upperclassmen and getting to know some freshmen as well, so it’s nice being able to hang out with them. On Thursdays we have team dinners with the whole team and I definitely look forward to those.”
