From April 25 to May 2, the Green Dragon Art Show displayed hundreds of pieces of artwork curated by the students of La Jolla High School. There were art pieces of all types, including woodworking, ceramics, and multimedia projects.
The opening reception took place on the evening of April 25th. This reception offered multiple interactive activities, such as a puzzle consisting of coloring pages and a computer game. Students also played live music and had a food stand where attendees could purchase homemade goods and snacks.
The students took inspiration from things surrounding them and used that to create emotional and beautiful art pieces. Sophomore Marina Garcia said, “I was inspired by somebody who caught my eye and interested me, so I channeled my emotions into my art.” The art show was a display of the fine skills and creativity that students at La Jolla High have to offer.
For the past couple of months, the students worked alongside their teachers to plan and organize the event. Junior Val Mayer said, “A lot of work was put into organizing the show and printing out the labels with the artist’s statements on them.” Their work did not go unnoticed, for the Green Dragon Art Show was a great success and a great way to showcase the talented artists of La Jolla High School.
