Every year, the LJHS drama department puts on three productions: a play, a musical, and dinner theater. Twilight Zone is this school year’s dinner theater, scheduled to take place on the 1st, 2nd, 5th, 8th, 9th, and 25th of May. Twilight Zone is a theater adaptation of three episodes from the 1960s television series The Twilight Zone. Each episode will be accompanied by one course of a three-course meal. The meals are supplied by La Dolce Vita, an Italian restaurant in La Jolla. The courses will be salad, fettuccine, and tiramisu.
The episodes are “The Shelter”, “Time Enough At Last”, and “Night Call”. When asked what he thought about Twilight Zone, senior actor Joey Saisan, playing the role of narrator, said, “I think it’s a very good show, very meaningful show. Has some big messages in there. Not too light, but not too dark either.” Tickets cost $25 and must be purchased at least one day prior to the show.
Audience seating is on stage with the actors. The student actors are also the servers. In previous dinner theaters, Mr. Allen has adapted different Twilight Zone episodes. When asked why he was doing Twilight Zone, Mr. Allen said, “I hope it turns people on to what the Twilight Zone was as a TV show back in the 50s and 60s. And how it stitched wonderfully written episodes with really dynamic characters.”
