On March 7th, 2025, Xavier Worthy, a 21-year-old wide receiver for the Kansas City Chiefs, was arrested on charges of domestic violence. These allegations came from Worthy’s ex-fiancée, Tia Jones, who claimed that he had choked her during an argument regarding her infidelity. After further investigation, Worthy was released the next day and was not charged with anything.
Jones was granted a temporary protective order against Worthy that will stay in place until April 1st. According to a statement on X released by his attorneys, Chip Lewis and Sam Bassett, Jones had “refused to vacate the residence and made a number of extortive efforts prior to resorting to this baseless allegation against Mr. Worthy.” It was also mentioned that she had physically assaulted Worthy as well.
While there were rumors that he wouldn’t be able to play in the future, the charges were dropped since he was found not guilty. Freshman Ozan Gunay said, “it sounds like he might have been defending himself, but hopefully the situation gets resolved.” Another freshman, Anthony Lopez, said, “Xavier Worthy is a good player, and he’s always seemed like a decent guy, so I hope that it was a misunderstanding.” The case is still being investigated, and more information will be released as the case moves forward.
