Mateo Peniche Isaac started playing soccer long before his senior year of high school. His season is off to a great start as he is leading the team as the varsity team captain. He has been bringing his all to his last soccer season before going off to college next year. Keep reading for an exclusive interview with this soccer standout!
Q: “How long have you been playing soccer?”
MPI: “I’ve been playing soccer since I was 5 years old.”
Q: “What made you start playing soccer?”
MPI: “I was born in Mexico, and soccer is very big over there. My friends also played it a lot so it just really encouraged me to give it a shot.”
Q: “What is your favorite part about the sport?”
MPI: “I love the camaraderie on the field. Everybody is so connected and after playing with your friends for this long, you learn how to play as one group, not a ton of different people playing.”
Q: “How has your senior season been so far?”
MPI: “We have barely faced any difficulties, it has been great.”
Q: “What would you consider your biggest sports achievement?”
MPI: “I think my biggest sports achievement is being team captain and leading this many kids to victory.”
Q: “Do you plan on playing soccer in college?”
MPI: “No.”
Q: “Do you have any team shoutouts?”
MPI: “Yeah, Evandro Figueiredo is a great player, he has lots of talent in the sport.”
