It’s always a party during football season, but what happens when water polo enters the mix? After school on September 26, 2024, the Varsity Football and Water Polo players hopped in the pool for the ultimate showdown: Tangle in the Tank. Every year, this event is held in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and raises money for Susan G. Komen fundraiser to fight against breast cancer.
It would be easy to assume that the Water Polo team would win, but the twist of the game is that the football team gets seven points per goal, while the Water Polo team gets only one. Jackson Brown, senior Varsity Water Polo team captain, says, “We weren’t on our best game. The football boys won by two points. It was a really good atmosphere, and some of the football boys used to be on the water polo team. It was really fun though.” The game was very close, with the Football team winning 35-33. Although it was definitely a tangle, all the players seemed to have a lot of fun and enjoy the experience in the tank. The crowd was equally hyped. Freshman Massimo Perez, a football player, said, “It was really fun to watch. I’m happy football won because I thought it would be hard to win in water.”
