Lamont Jackson, the recently appointed new superintendent for San Diego Unified School District, was terminated after an investigation found that he had committed sexual misconduct towards two employees. The district revealed the investigation and the final outcomes on September 9th, 2024. The investigation found that two women claimed Jackson made sexual advances towards them that they disapproved of. The allegations against Lamont Jackson were revealed this past April, and the school district hired the Los Angeles-based law firm Sanchez and Amador to look into it. To figure out if they should fire Lamont Jackson they set up an anonymous vote, allowing his peers to be the deciding factor in whether or not he would get fired. In the end, the votes were in, and he was officially fired. The two employees who played a part in this act who are not named also got fired. School board officials said all of the individuals involved mutually agreed that separation is what’s best for the school and the district in general. Throughout the four month investigation, it was concluded that Lamont Jackson had engaged in sexual behavior toward women but the investigation did not find that they rejected his actions. “Lamont Jackson had it coming for him,” said Brook Ataba, a freshman at LJHS. “I think it’s crazy how they didn’t find any evidence of the woman turning him down and then they got fired too.”
