Kendrick Lamar will be performing at the 2025 Apple Music Super Bowl LIX halftime show scheduled for February 9th, 2025. This will not be his first time making an appearance at a halftime show, as he previously performed at the 2022 Super Bowl, alongside many esteemed artists, including Dr. Dre and Eminem.
The news was announced in a Youtube video that was posted on Sunday, September 8th. The video took place on a football field with a giant American flag in the background. “My name is Kendrick Lamar and I’ll be performing at Super Bowl LIX,” the rapper says, “will you be pulling up? I hope so.” This social media announcement was met with very enthusiastic comments from fans, one Instagram user claiming that “this might be the best Super Bowl ever now.”
Earlier this year, he released the hit song “Not Like Us,” along with three other diss tracks against Canadian rapper, Drake. Their dispute was public and became an internet phenomenon. Dayton Milley, a freshman at La Jolla High, says that “his popularity has skyrocketed due to the drama he had with Drake.” Another freshman, Aiden Farrell, references Drake’s alleged pedophilia. He said, “Kendrick’s against pedophiles and I’m also against pedophiles so I am looking forward to seeing him perform in February.”
