Donald Glover, his stage name Childish Gambino, is an actor and rapper known for television and radio. He’s acted in many hit films, like Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, and shows, like Mr. and Mrs. Smith and Atlanta. Glover has also made many albums over the years, ranging in style from hip-hop, R&B, and funk, the most well-known of which are Awaken, My Love!, Because the Internet, and Camp. He has made no new records for many years after the release of Awaken, My Love! in 2016. This year, on May 13, he released the album Atavista, which is the finished version of his fourth studio album, “3.15.20.” With this recent release, Glover has a tour planned, Childish Gambino: The New World Tour. The tour starts on August 11 and ends on October 3. He plans to make 33 stops throughout North America. In addition to Atavista, Glover said he plans on releasing a whole new album later this summer without naming a specific release date. According to Glover, this upcoming album will be the soundtrack to the latest film Bando Stone and the New World. Glover said, “this last Childish Gambino album is a soundtrack to this film and it’s for my fans.” Seeing as it is a re-release, the album Atavista includes “Time” with Ariana Grande and “Psilocybae” featuring 21 Savage, Kadhja Bonet, and Ink (which was initially named “12.38”). The only new tracks are “Atavista” and “Human Sacrifice.” Junior Caitlin Gray is a big fan of Childish Gambino and has much to say about the album and the tour. She says, “it’s definitely more produced…I don’t think it’s going to be as big as Camp or Because of Internet, but I think it’s going to do relatively well and I think the fact that it’s his first time performing live in eight years is going to make it a pretty substantial tour.” A lot of sources noted it as one of Glover’s best works because he really “goes into the R&B aspect of the album and uses layers to add dimension in the songs.”
