Denver Harris is a sophomore at La Jolla High who has been running since the summer before his freshman year. Running marathons, 5Ks, and other events in preparation for the Track/Cross Country season has definitely paid off, as over the past two years, Denver has received recognition at several prestigious meets. Keep reading for an exclusive interview with this Cross Country/Track standout!
Q. What sport(s) do you play?
DH: Cross Country and Track.
Q. How long have you been running?
DH: About two years ago. I started running the summer before my freshman year.
Q. What made you start running?
DH: My mom wanted me to do a sport, so she made me start running since I wasn’t interested in any other sports.
Q. What is your favorite part about the sport?
DH: After having a good race it’s a pretty thrilling feeling.
Q. How has your Track season been so far, and how was your Cross Country season?
DH: My Cross-Country season was pretty good. For my Track season, I’ve only run two races so far, but I broke 5 minutes in the mile, so I’m pretty happy with that.
Q: What would you consider your biggest sports achievement?
DH: Last year at the Frosh Soph Championship I got 5th in the two-mile, and I ran under 10:30.
Q. It’s pretty early, but do you plan on running in college?
DH: I think if I can get a scholarship for running, then definitely.

DH: My glorious king Kevin Chiu, he’s an awesome dude.
