Last month, commemorating the conclusion of the regular sports season and observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the school organized a series of inter-sport matches. The first event, known as the “Dig Pink” game, featured a spirited competition between the boys’ water polo team and the girls’ volleyball team, who engaged in the volleyball match. The second event, known as “Tangle in the Tank,” saw the boys’ football team and the boys’ water polo team face off in a water polo match, and had an unforeseen outcome.
Despite the presumption that the boys’ water polo team would emerge victorious, the boys’ football team managed to claim victory with a final score of 28-21. However, the boys’ football team got 7 points when they scored, whereas the boys’ water polo got 1. This means that if the point value for each goal were the same, the water polo players would have won 21 to 4. The results of the game still surprised many observers, including freshman Selma Salih, who remarked on the astonishing turn of events.
However, regardless of who emerged victorious, Tangle in the Tank raised awareness and money for an extremely important cause. Senior Alden Pfau explained, “It was so awesome to play for an amazing cause like the Suzan B. Comen foundation, and huge thanks to the football team for coming out and making this possible.”
