2022 Transition to Spring Sports
After wrapping up an exciting winter season, the La Jolla Vikings are back again gearing up for the spring season. Included in this season is boys and girls lacrosse, swimming, track and badminton. Additionally, boys baseball, volleyball, and tennis will be kicking off. On top of that, girls softball and beach volleyball will be up and running. Diving into the new season, freshman Maxwell Cheng says, “Everyone jokes around. It’s not extremely competitive unless you’re going to the meets. Then, everyone’s wrecking each other. I like it for the sole fact that it’s swimming.” After a season of water polo, Freshman Inji Hamdoun is ready to get back in the water with the swim team. She comments saying, “I love swimming and being in the water and I’ve heard the team and coaches are really nice. I’m not looking forward to the tan though.” Badminton player, Senior Quentin Bardin comments, “Since this is the last season for me at LJHS, I am really pumped for this last opportunity to be on a team. Sports for me are fun so I’m excited to try out for Badminton.” Back on dry land, boys lacrosse and golf is starting off. When asked about the spring season, freshman Seigo Lavinsky says, “I’m playing lacrosse and golf. I’m excited to play with my friends and the La Jolla team. I decided that I wanted to do both because I couldn’t choose between the two.” For those who are still unsure about whether they want to try out or not, Coach Frank said, “I would recommend anybody who is interested in trying a sport to give it a chance. Fear of failure should not stop you from attempting something you would like to do. Just have fun with it, and do the best you can.”
