Travis Scott performed on Nov. 5 at Houston Astroworld which is a music festival. Travis began to perform around 9 p.m. when shortly after he started, people in the crowd started falling to the ground. The crowd was packed together to the point where people could not breath and others were being trampled. This ended with ten deaths, the youngest being a nine year old. Travis Scott had many people yelling at him to stop the concert because people were dying; however, he continued on only stopping the concert 30 minutes before he was supposed to. He came to the internet with an apology video two days after this tragedy which was highly criticized by his fans. Junior Rheily McWhorter said, “ I think the situation in itself is not Travis’s fault and Travis had a very good view of the incident and could’ve easily stopped it from happening. This could have been prevented if there was more security. I think this incident happened because Astroworld was very hyped up and people were way too excited about it causing an overflow of people.” People were breaking down fences just to get into the concert and they were very understaffed. After the concert ended Travis Scott came out with an apology video to give respect to the lives lost. Rheily also said, “The apology video was a joke, he didn’t even seem sorry, it was almost like his manager told him to do it.” Junior Sarah Tuszynski said, “I think the entire video was scripted and inorganic. Travis Scott doesn’t actually feel bad for what he said. He didn’t actually take accountability and he should.”
