Devastating Plane Crash in Santee California
November 9, 2021
On Oct. 11, 2021, around 12:15 p.m., a small plane crashed into two homes leaving two people dead and at least two injured. This incident happened about 15 miles northeast of San Diego, as the aircraft was leaving Yuma Arizona heading to San Diego. While the reason as to why this happened is still not confirmed, authorities think the pilot lost control of the aircraft which caused him to crash land in a residential neighborhood.
With planes anything can happen, and unfortunately accidents like this happen every once in a while. Junior Sophia Bledsoe said, “I fly a lot and I currently have my pilot’s permit in the works to get my license. I have had a scary experience while flying once, the controls went out and we were spinning in circles with no way to stop.” She also said, “ I know one of the families who were affected during this and they are receiving many donations for their home to rebuild everything they lost.” Aircrafts are very unpredictable due to the fact that it is a machine flying 30,000 feet in the air.
Whether they are big or small aircrafts, anything can still happen. While there is always a possibility of something going wrong, most of the time everything goes well. Freshman Julie Sauve said, “Yes, I have flown a few times, and flying does not scare me due to the fact that I have never experienced anything scary while flying.” Most of the time things do not go wrong on an aircraft, although safety is not promised and a fatal crash is possible.
