The La Jolla High swim team is looking forward to their upcoming season. Tryouts will be held on Monday, February 24th, and the head coach, Tom Atwell, and Coach Mike Francis will be ready to start training with the new members of the 2020 team.

Senior Hannah Jimenez has been swimming since she was in kindergarten and will have been on the Vikings varsity team for four years. She said, “I’m looking forward to hanging out with the team. I hope we are in the top ten for CIF.” Jimenez has been to the CIF finals three times and is anticipating the opportunity for a fourth.

In the 2019 season, the Junior Varsity team was undefeated and the Varsity team won all but one of their dual meets. Coach Francis, who has been coaching for 28 years, said, “In the last season, there was a lot of individual improvement as well as overall team success.” He added that he anticipates challenges replacing last year’s graduated seniors, but looks forward to seeing what’s going to happen in the next season.

Team tryouts will be held at 2:30pm for Junior Varsity and 3:30pm for Varsity on Monday, February 24th at the Coggan Pool.
