New Cafeteria

Last year, La Jolla High School started major construction projects around campus. The construction started around the first semester of the 2018 school year, and took all summer to complete the 500 building and part of the cafeteria. But as the school year starts, students are starting to see these brand new improvements take shape, such as new classrooms, gates around campus, and a new cafeteria. As of September 30th, the new cafeteria is ready for use and open to all. “This was a multimillion dollar project that was included in the school modernization,” said San Diego Unified School District Administrator Ms. McGee Bastani.  If you want to grab some delicious food at school, or just eat your own lunch with your friends, the cafeteria is the place to go.

With the new cafeteria, the school hopes to provide a more comfortable eating environment for students as opposed to eating outside on benches. Many students are very excited for the new cafeteria and have long been awaiting its arrival. “The cafeteria looks like a really nice and modern facility that will be a great improvement for the school,” said Sophomore Spencer Courtney. It provides plenty of space for students to eat lunch with their friends, and have a good time doing so. “The new cafeteria is very innovative and will be exciting for the rest of the year,” said Sophomore Rory Maclean. Overall, the school community is very excited about the new cafeteria and will be looking forward to seeing more students spend their lunch there.
