With returning starters Leyla Blackwell (Captain), Maya Gessner (Captain), Alex Dinofia, Alex Young, Amaya McMillin, Isabel Willis, and Malaya Hood, the Vikings Girls Volleyball Team is off to a great start this season. Leyla Blackwell, who will be attending Indiana University, Bloomington for college, said, “I look forward to hopefully making a run in CIF and just playing more and being together. We have a really good group.”

So far, the team has won eighteen games out of twenty-one. The team was successful in beating Bishops and La Costa Canyon and winning the September Classic Tournament. Alex Dinofia, who has been playing for Vikings Volleyball since freshman year, said, “My favorite part of volleyball is the competitiveness and adrenaline. I really like winning.” However, the team now faces the challenge of filling senior Isabel Willis’ role on the team while she is recovering from a  broken wrist.

“Winning a league title and CIF title would be really exciting, and I think we have the talent this year to accomplish that goal,” Coach Drobeck said. She added, “I want our team to do their very best at every practice and every game and our success will be defined by that, not how many wins and losses we have.”
