The Green Dragon Art Show is an art show held here at La Jolla High School. On Thursday, April 25, students can check out the art show from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM by the 600 and 900 building. There will be art, ceramics, jewelry, and wooden goods on display. People can also check out the live music, photo booth, appetizers, and live auction going on during the show. AP Art student Leigh Eleanor, “The whole art fair will be run by students, and there will be live music performed by students from 3pm to 7pm.”

The art show is a homage to the Green Dragon Art Society that was formed in 1895 by a woman named Anna Held. AP art teacher Ms. Friedrich, “Anna Held originally bought land in La Jolla for $165 and founded the Green Dragon Art Society, allowing people to stay for free and enjoy art. This lead to La Jolla being founded by the art community.” Many students will feature works of art that can be viewed, with twelve of them being sold during the shows live auction. The live auction will be held at 5:00 PM, and the proceeds made from the artwork will go towards helping fund the LJHS Arts department and the students who worked on the art.

Student’s are looking forward to experiencing the upcoming art show. Sophomore Cali Liu, “As someone who enjoys to make art myself, I can’t wait to see what other students create and check out the art pieces.” The art show will be a great way to bring together the community of students who enjoy making and looking at art, and any student volunteers are welcome.
